Hometown: Resides in Merrill, Wisconsin
Years Hunting: 59 years; shot my first deer when I was 12 years old. Has been on Ameristep's Prostaff for about 4 years.
Favorite animal to hunt: Whitetail deer. I have taken over 130 just with the bow and close to that with the rifle. I have also taken 5 bear and a caribou with the bow plus other small game as well.
TV appearances/ affiliations: I was on "The In-Fisherman" TV show once, and at that time I show Ron Blinder how to set down riggers and the first program filmed at Gill Rock, Wisconsin. I also was on local TV on the Northwoods Sportsman Show with Bob Routten a number of times.
Other Prostaff Experience: Was a field Rep and Prostaff member for Mepps fishing lures as well as others over the past 25 years. I am also a licensed Charter Boat Captain for many years.
Family: Married to Margie; 8 children, many grand and great grandchildren.
Experience: 59 years of hunting and love any type of outdoor activity.
Hunting tip: When hunting near a swamp or real thick cover, find the main runway and go into the thick cover on the runway. Put a bag of small, quarter size rocks in the runway for about 10-15 ft. The rocks will make a sound as the deer come up the runway. The hooves will let you know when to get ready to shoot, even though you still can't see them. As soon as they come out of the cover, you are ready to shoot.
FAVORITE AMERISTEP PRODUCT(S): My favorite is the DOGHOUSE Blind. I have had excellent success with it over the years. It is very easy to work with, sets up and takes down quick, and is completely mobile. You can move up on game and set up ahead of them, set it up on the edge of a food source, just about any situation you come across the Doghouse will be great aid and source of concealment. |
